Classroom News

Welcome back to a new school year! I had a wonderful summer break and can't wait to get started on the year. I attended a very inspirational workshop day sponsored by Scholastic Book Fairs and am looking forward to sharing my love of reading with all my new students. I bought many new chapter books this summer, so the class library is well-stocked and full of adventures just waiting for someone to find them!

Back to School night

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 23rd. This is Back to School night where you will hear an overview of your child’s 3rd grade year and find out all necessary information to make this a successful year for your child.

School supplies

Basic supplies such as pencils, crayons, and erasers are provided by the school. At this point, students don’t have to bring any supplies to school. We’ll talk about our 3rd grade  "wish list" at Back to School night on Tuesday, August 23rd.

Homework will start on the first full week of school. Please make sure your child is doing their neatest work on their homework. It is due the following Monday. It can be turned in earlier.

Reading/ Reading Lists

Students are expected to read each night. They should always have a chapter book ready to read in their backpack. They can take home books from the classroom library or read books from home. Provide your child with a quiet, inviting place to read. We are not sending home Reading Logs this year. However, fill out the Reading List when each book is finished.

Make sure your child knows their addition and subtraction facts to 20. They should be automatic by the beginning of 3rd grade.

Please get your child to school on time. Every minute is precious and students fall behind if they are even 10 minutes late in the morning.
