Meet Mrs. Kraemer

DSCN3250a.jpgHi! My name is Mariann Kraemer, and I'll be your child's kindergarten teacher in Room KB. I'm lucky to have spent my entire teaching career at Bowers School. I taught kindergarten for six years, and then moved up to third grade for the next twelve.  After that, I decided to return to the kindergarten classroom. This will be my sixth year back in KB. What's great about teaching upper grade is that now I know what the students should learn and where they're going. I have my master's degree in administration with an emphasis on reading comprehension. I've served as a mentor teacher, a master teacher, and have been principal support for several years. Yet, when all is said and done, the most important thing is working with kindergartners. They have an enthusiasm and love of learning that is contagious. What a wonderful way to spend my day!

THE HOME OF THE BUSY BEES

Welcome to Room KB! This is going to be a great year. The room is clean, the posters are hung, and I'm trying to memorize all the student names before they arrive! I am looking forward to meeting all of you as we start off the beginning of your child's school career. Working together, we can help your child become the best they can "bee." See you soon!

  • Shake hands to say hello and make eye contact

  • Clean up after themselves

  • Use scissors and glue

  • Organize their backpack

  • Know the difference between their snack and their lunch

Academically, your child should also be able to:

  • Recognize all ABCs

  • Count to 10 and recognize numbers 1-10

  • Recognize colors

  • Recognize shapes

  • Recognize their name

  • Write their name

 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Day 1:

On the first day of Kindergarten, parents will meet with Mrs. Blanc and then with the Kindergarten teachers to hear information about our program.  At that time, you will sign up to have your child's mandatory assessment and select your volunteer hours.

PLEASE ATTEND THESE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT MEETINGS!

Assessments:

Assessments will occur during the first two full weeks of school in the afternoons after dismissal. After assessing your child, we will meet with you for a brief conference to discuss the results of the assessment.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SIGN YOUR CHILD UP FOR ASSESSMENT!

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Available to Parents and Grandparents

Be thinking about a time you'd like to volunteer in the classroom. The days and times I'll need for the Literacy Centers are listed in the table below. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! I'll make it a fun experience, and I'm nice and friendly! Choose a day and time, and it's yours for the entire year. What a deal! I even make cookies every once in a while... Seriously, with your help and support, we will give the small group instruction that the students need in reading.

 Literacy Centers Volunteer Times

DAY START TIME END TIME
Tuesday 8:15 AM 9:00 AM
Wednesday 8:15 AM 9:00 AM
Thursday 8:15 AM 9:00 AM

Thanks for thinking about it!  Come with your plan.  I'll have other days, times, and activities available too.
